Birthday Scene Spy!

It’s my birthday! I’m 40! I’m looking forward to my new 40something lifestyle, where I get lots more white male privilege and get asked to run foundations and given large sums of money in unmarked bags. It includes eating healthy, having a rockstar dentist, comfortable furniture, and health insurance. It includes being a patron as well as a protégé. It includes a world where people think I am gross and call me “daddy” and I tell them not to call me that. And I get fat, supposedly. But I’m not going to get fat.

It’s my party later today/night. You’re only invited if you know me, but if you do and you don’t know where the party is, send me a facebook message or a phone call and I’ll clue you in. But there will be stand-up comedy, catering, yodeling, videos and possible live music!

There are 41 parties on here this week.

NEWZ

-this list!

Expect it every week, on my patreon page! And for the first month of the Scene Spy, you can see it for free on the Witchworks website too!

-patreon!

Patreon is the coolest. It’s like Kickstarter except it’s made for ongoing artists who are cranking out more product all the time. Maybe it’ll cause wide swaths of artists to be able to make art full time, by people supporting the artist instead of paying per-content for the art? Here’s my patreon page and Stee McMorris’s patreon page. We don’t have any signups yet, maybe you would like to be my first $1 patron? Or Stee’s? It all starts with the first dollar, and we work hard to try to continually bring you fresh stuff! :):) <3<3

-recent public videos by us!

I just discovered Vine. Here’s a vine video I just made of Katie Coriander as Cthulhu.

If you haven’t seen the videos Stee and I made for Tom Doesn’t Care, Ugly or NSA Song, check ‘em out on YouTube for free!

Also I made this Zach Deputy video, this rap video about Revere Beach, this Bible Cats commercial, this commercial, this video of one of my previous birthday parties. Click on them!

For more videos, check out the Past Work section of our new Witchworks Films website!

-secret videos!

October’s video incorporates one shoot where I brought the GoPro and beat myself up in the woods, some footage of me getting possessed, and some stuff with an unseen monster, possibly the possessed me, stalking and chasing Stabatha La Thrills around. Maybe it’s the evil faeries, who can say? There’s some beautiful camera work by Alex Stinson and Stee McMorris, and some grainy stuff I shot myself… Patrons can see it here!

November’s “secret” gear test video is about exploring emotional jib shots, subjective angles, more refined woodsy sound, and trying out some of our favorite local actors with some speaking lines. And also seeing what they look like getting possessed! It’s going to have Jaime Devine, Garabed Setrakian and Steven Lawlor-Jones, and involves further revealing of the mystery of that Thing, and why Steven always carries that machine around… we’ll be shooting it in early November and it’ll be lots of fun!

Anyway, when each gear test video is done I’ll be posting it on my Patreon page in the creations section. Behind-the-scenes videos, blooper reels and other secret videos we won’t be posting publically on YouTube will end up there as well. $3 a month patrons and above will be able to see them all!

-gilded age salons!

We’re making plans for our first Gilded Age Salon, but first I’ve got to have my birthday party today. I’m turning 40, come to my thing!

If you would like to host or have your art be featured at a Gilded Age Salon, email me!

-recent videos by our friends!

Steve Onderick is great. He shot all the ritual scenes for our Ugly video, and several episodes of Quiet D. He also made a documentary about Vermin Supreme, whom we’ll be putting in some propaganda videos soon, stay tuned. On November 4th you can see that documentary, and Vermin will be there…

Who Is Vermin Supreme? An Outsider Odyssey

Michael J Epstein Memorial Library is a strange thing. Our friends Sophia and Mike have like a million bands. I do not understand which band is which and why. But they are amazingly talented, have cool songs and feminist videos, check this one out!

People keep getting video of Katie Coriander. You just want to film her. We’re doing a new video for her soon, really! But actually, Crazy Trevor, do keep filming her. He recently made a film with Vermin about ponies, and we have to be behind that…

-other name-dropping!

It’s neat having famous friends. You wonder what your friends are doing, so you just pick up a newspaper or a magazine and then you know! It makes me want to start a new section of the Scene Spy called Name Dropping!

This week’s DigBoston has Anna Feder on the front, and a picture of Nichole Snow fighting for medical cannabis reform! If you live in Salem, write her in for State Rep! And a teeny tiny picture of Michael J. Epstein Memorial Library, about their show on the 25th! (see below in the eventz section)

Robby Roadsteamer is back, for those who’ve missed the ultimate ironically shitty dude and his scathing insult comedy, check him out on WEMF radio every day! He’s also playing the Middle East Downstairs in December, look here in future weeks for details!

Amanda Palmer is doing a book tour soon, check it out

Walter Sickert has shows coming up, check out our actors Jojo and Dalya in the band family… I just had to have them on TV 3 times so far because the Toys are the coolest!

Izzy Lee is skyrocketing to stardom with her explorations in the Feminist Revenge Horror genre. You may have seen her photos posing with every famous horror person ever, or some of her films in every film festival ever. You should check out her highly anticipated Nevermore play on the 31st!

And our latest Witchworks Films Hero of the Revolution, Katie Coriander has like 90 shows in late November and December. You’ll see announcements of them here! And if you just HAVE to see Katie before that, come to my birthday party where she MIGHT be jamming with people for a little while… And watch this video if you haven’t seen it…or this one or this one or this one or this Vine video…

-other stuff!

Countable is really cool. You can easily search and see all the bills on the House and Senate floor and automatically tell your representatives how you think they should vote. Sure they’re probably going to vote with all the big corporations anyway, but this at least makes it easy to get your voice heard. I get form letters from politicians all the time now!

You can still rent Pony Trouble at Amazon Instant!

There’s genome editing now. Some lady in Utah accidentally discovered how to use bacteria to edit genes. Soon this will cure everything…

Samhain 2014 Ritual and Feast

(contact me privately for address, this is a serious spiritual event)

Come celebrate the dark half of the year and honor our departed ancestors. We’ll gather together to eat, perform ritual, and make some seasonal magic.
Bring something vegetarian for the feast. (Beer and wine is OK, but please no hard liquor.) You can also bring an image or object representing a departed ancestor (genetic or otherwise) for the ritual.
Just an FYI, this isn’t a Halloween costume party. Sadly, Gwo isn’t holding his annual costume bash this year, but that’s no reason not to celebrate this important annual turning of the wheel!
